By: me! yay!
Fandoms: bnha and young justice
Summary: Endeavor has tried his whole hero career to get an invitation to join the Justice League. When considering new candidates for League membership, Batman suggests they invite Endeavor. He wants to keep an eye on a hero that he doesn't trust and offer Endeavor's son and sidekick a place on the Team Robin and the other young heroes have founded.
Endeavor jumps at the chance to join the Justice League but might end up regretting it when Shouto befriends Artemis Crock, a girl with a supervillain for a father and more similarities to Shouto than either of them know.

young justice/bnha crossover fic
Jan. 5th, 2019 10:26 pmi've been working on a yj/bnha crossover fic since this last summer called "shouto todoroki joins the supervillain dads club" because i realized how many similarities he shares with artemis crock (and then conner kent and kaldur'ahm both have supervillain dads as well so it's kind of a Thing in that show) and i wanted to be able to put them in the same room, but an interesting thing is that his relationship with his dad actually resembles artemis's SISTER'S relationship with her dad more than direct parallel. (the sister that i like to trade with dabi because they're both the flirty family member villain archetype.
so. artemis and jade are the daughters of a supervillain. sportsmaster is a bad abusive dude and artemis wants absolutely nothing to do with him and becomes a hero so she generally doesn't have to. but jade is a villain and occasionally has to work with him as a professional necessity, just like todoroki does in bnha and she deals with it reluctantly about the same way that todoroki does. and then of course dabi is out there actively plotting to kill his dad and i think that artemis is probably more likely to off the dude than jade is because jade doesn't do it out of professional courtesy

young justice
Jan. 5th, 2019 02:08 pmhey dudes! so young justice, the phenomenal dc animated show about the justice league "sidekicks" forming their own team is back for season three! now is the perfect time to try it if you've ever been interested or even if you're just finding out it exists now!
it shares a lot of similarities with bnha (which i know a lot of my dreamwidth buddies are into as well) and it has a fantastic plot, awesome characters and development, great humor, and great lore. it's a good place to dip your toe into the dc universe if you're a new comer or to geek out about it if you're an old timer :)

young justice returns!
Jan. 3rd, 2019 04:24 pmi can't believe that young justice actually... comes back tomorrow. holy shit. it's been so long. i watched the first season back in 2012 or something before the second was on netflix and then i watched the second in the summer of 2015, became obsessed, wrote a shit ton of fanfiction and then got on board right on time for the announcement of the third season.
and holy shit. it's almost back. this is so weird my dudes. i knew it was coming but it always seemed so far away but now it's here. my darling artemis crock is back. kaldur'ahm is aquaman and my heart can't take it. my darling bluepulse is going to jossed (gregged?) and my entire writing headspace is going to be blown to hell.
i'm ready, i think? i hope so.

The Snowflake Challenge: Day 3
Jan. 3rd, 2019 09:49 amShare a favorite piece of original canon
For this I decided to share descriptions of my two favorite episodes of TV! They're both for different DC TV shows and they both focus on The Flash (or... the flash's grandson) so I thought that they could provide an interesting contrast! These two reviews are littered with spoilers so. Proceed with caution
First we have The Flash Season One Episode Fifteen Out Of Time
This episode focuses on a traumatic worst case scenario for the gang. Joe is captured and his life is threatened by The Weather Wizard. Cisco discovers that Wells is Eobard Thawne and tries to comfort him, and tells him that he was like a son to him before proceeding to put his HAND THROUGH HIS CHEST and killing him. i still hold firm that cisco's acting in this scene is the best in the entire show. Barry reveals to Iris that he's the Flash, kisses her, and runs off to save the city from a crushing TSUNAMI. and then they proceed to run BACK INTO THE PAST accidentally save the day and keep it from repeating but realize exactly the consequences of accidental time travel. like. holy shit.
I didn't start watching the flash until all of season 2 had already aired so I knew that none of this stuff would be permanent, but as a first time viewer watching it live? this would have been a nail bitter. This is probably the episode of anything that I've rewatched the most simply because it's so good.
I actually did a rewrite of my two favorite scenes for this (Cisco dying and Barry revealing himself as the Flash to Iris) for a fic because I just find them both so compelling.
Second we have Young Justice Season Two Episode
So. Young Justice has a lot of my favorite episodes of TV because Young Justice is just an amazing show. It comes back tomorrow and I'm like. Almost not ready to have it wreck me again. Season one is fantastic and character driven, but season two comes with a driving plot that I simply adore and introduces two characters that I would. Die for.
This episode serves as the introduction to Young Justice's version of Bart Allen. He comes back in time from the future in a time machine that "breaks down". He lands in the cave and terrorizes the other members of the team in a hilarious and fast paced scene, then he comes to meet his family at a party they're having (barry allen, wally west, and the rest of the gang) and has an absolutely hilarious time greeting his family and accidentally dropping a few "spoilers". The celebration is cut short by a supervillain attack and bart is shown subtly trying to keep the flash from the fight, dropping hints that something about his story isn't right. the tiny hints that we get throughout the episode are delightful to watch on a second or third viewing when you know exactly what is not right about his story. OKAY NOW FULL BLOWN SPOILERS
near the end of the episode, we see a glimpse of bart's post apocalyptic future, ashes falling from the sky like snow, and him repairing the time machine with the help of the villain that he and the flash stopped earlier in the day. we find out that he has a mission to make sure that the future doesn't end up that way and then we have the hook for a driving plot involving this character that i, frankly, could never ever get enough of. i have written so much fic about this particular character and i've actually rewritten bloodlines twice i think? i keep trying to do a flash and young justice crossover so that i can properly place bart and his boyfriend into the flash timeline.

Fandom Friday: Fic Recs
Dec. 28th, 2018 05:52 pmWARNING! I'm trying to figure out the html thing, so today I'm just putting the names with links beside them. I'll get it worked out later but today I just... don't have the energy ya know?
Aaron Davis is the Prowler. https://archiveofourown.org/works/17179946
Author: petsohp
Summary: and this is how he’s born
Poster's Note: one of my favorite parts of this fic, actually, is completely destroyed by the formatting I used for this rec list. I love how the title bleeds into the summary, but if you check it out you'll see that and much more. This is a really great little drabble by a friend of mine that's a fantastic character study. It's short, a series of vignettes that led to the birth of The Prowler, and I promise it's worth your time if you've enjoyed spiderverse :)
actuality https://archiveofourown.org/works/15733827/chapters/36581340
Author: wonduhwoman
Summary: “I can’t promise to be an open fucking book, alright? But let’s make a deal. You can ask me one question everyday that I’ll promise to answer honestly. But you have to answer it too.” His eyes flashed with split-second insecurity, so uncharacteristic of him, “I’m not doing this for nothin’, after all.”
“That’s fair,” She breathed.

or, Bakugou and Uraraka escape villains with a memory altering quirk, have a lot of resulting baggage, learn the importance of being honest with one another, and end up saving the day.
Poster's Note: this fic is... so good my dudes. The characterization, the pacing, the relationships, the plot. It's so engaging. I read this 51k fic in the course of a day, which is kinda rare for me nowadays. The heart of this fic is the relationships between Ochako, Kacchan and Deku and the author does a fantastic job weaving them all together and making a fantastic and engaging fic. It's also similar to another fic later on in this list called "heroes of the dark" and i would highly suggest reading both if you're interested in one or the other. This one is satisfying because it's completed and the other is exciting because it's a sprawling long fic that's still a wip.
and the pain of my mother will not let me gohttps://archiveofourown.org/works/16606496/chapters/38922263
Author: koisurufortunecookie
Summary: He insisted her hair be cut short, long locks cropped to her ears. Shouko’s childish complaint that she looked like a boy was met by a harsh slap across the cheek by her father, her young body skidding across the floor from the impact.
She didn’t complain about it again.
-----
Female rebellion, the clashing love for your mother and the terror that you'll end up just as she has, childhoods denied- and the way Shouko Todoroki starts to heal.
Poster's Note: so I must admit, this one isn't something that I started during break, but considering that most of the updates have happened during break I'm counting it. I've been following this fic religiously since the second chapter was out and I've absolutely loved it.
This fic presents a fascinating take on fem! todoroki, the todoroki family (shitshow, cough), and gender roles. Considering that this is coming from a gender studies major, none of it should surprise me haha. It's also got f/f tododeku, so like, what's not to love? Plus the author and I are at the point where we geek out over each other's portrayals of fem! todoroki so honestly, this is just an all around treat.
Auld Acquaintance (Never Brought to Mind) https://archiveofourown.org/works/16992015"
Author: Novaviis
Summary: After freeing the Justice League from the control of The Light, the Team engages in an age old human custom... or at least most of them do. Amends are made, new relationships begun, mutual pinning continued on with little to no progress. Can't win everything.
[Canon Rewrite of Young Justice S01 E26]
Poster's Note: young justice was my mainstay fandom for a long time and I still pop in there from time to time to write a snaibsel or bluepulse fic or two (and it might become my mainstay again after season 3 drops in january, who knows?) but i'm always delighted when someone writes this pairing that isn't me or my best friend writing it for each other. This rewrite of a canon scene for my favorite lesbians was a fantastic little surprise for the holiday season, especially since it's ABOUT the holiday season ;)
heroes of the dark https://archiveofourown.org/works/14433615/chapters/33337071
Author: ohmytheon
Summary: Uraraka has spent almost a year grieving the tragic loss of Deku, the hero who was supposed to save the world and the boy she loved with everything in her, but she is slowly moving on, acting as the hero that Deku would want her be. She's got her job, her friends, and her life. She's even managed a strange friendship with Bakugou, who bore the weight of Deku's death almost as hard as her. Things are once again looking hopeful.
This is, until, Deku comes back into her life and shatters everything she's rebuilt. Except he's not what he seems. Something is wrong with him - with his mind - and Uraraka will be damned if she lets the darkness take him again. If only he agreed with her. If only he wasn't so determined to take her with him.
Poster's Note: so this fic has just about everything that I love in a bnha. Respecting Ochako's character and having her as the MC? Check. Great explorations of many character dynamics that are respectful of all characters and portray them well? Well done villain Deku that works with his character and explores how terrifying that would be? Good exploration of Todoroki family dynamics? Dabi? Check check checkity check check
I've had this one in my bookmarks for a while because I was worried that I wouldn't like it because it was Izuchako and I'm kind of meh about Izuchako as a primary pairing, but I was so wrong. The characterization in this is so strong. The plot is engaging. There were points where I physically could not put my phone down even though I had important things to do because oh no, no no this is an important scene and something could HAPPEN. This is probably the best fic that I've read all year and considering how much fic I read, that is saying something.
What the Fuck Did You Just Call Me? https://archiveofourown.org/works/16122836/chapters/37665152"
Author: reading_raindrop
Summary: “A-ah B-Bakugou! You dropped some pencils!”
Katsuki stiffened. Kirishima and Kaminari froze. Basically, everyone within earshot stopped what they were doing to look at Izuku like he sprouted a second head. What did he just call him? “What the fuck did you just say to me?”
Katsuki whipped his head towards Izuku with his signature death glare as he stood up from where he picked up the fallen supplies.
“U-um I said you dropped some pencils! I think this eraser might be yours to-”
“No. What the fuck did you just call me?”
Izuku starts calling him Bakugou and it pisses the explosive teen off a lot more than he thought it would
Poster's Note: okay, so this one's on here partially for sentimental reasons. My best friend and I read this over each other's shoulders standing in line for rides at Disney World, so the memory associated with this fic is so warm and cute that I definitely can't help recommending it. But the fic itself is ALSO warm and cute and funny and I can't help recommending it. It's a fun little fic, and as long as you don't have a problem with bakudeku I think that you'll enjoy it as much as I did. It's a hilarious and fun little fic :)
