Context 汉字, and just learning feelings.

刀 is a cute little character. It means knife.
切 means 'to cut'. Understandably.
角 means 'corner'. So appropiatly its used for the words for 'angle' and to refer to geographic stuff as 'Cape Point' or whatever. But! the word also means antler/horns. And this is what prompted this post.
I was confused as to where I've seen '所' before, because right here in Dreamdwidth there's a community that posts chinese learning post, and I was mystified when I encountered '所'', becaue my brain started to tingle. So I looked it up.
所 means place/location, institution/establishment, and is also used as a measurement word for buildings in general. But you see, I knew this character due to the common phrase of '所以', commonly translated as 'therefore' and its general meaning.
I was in chinese class throughout middle/high school, and my teacher was always the Taiwanese teacher that had moved to my country because she married one of my countrymen. She sometimes taught us about the meaning of each individual character, but honestly it was only for the really, really basic/obvious ones, like '人'. I don't even fault her- teaching this language to a bunch of kids that are doing it like, 4 hours at most per week and don't dabble in any profound chinese speaking environment well. There's a reason why people always say that the only way to fully learn a language is to stay in a country where its the majority for more than 2 months.
I don't really want to dox myself, but I live in a country where a lot of chinese are moving into where I live in the recent years, so it has motivated me to well, at least try to get back into stuff. And its so frustrating to remember that back when I did had classes in chinese in a weekly basis, I knew a lot of the words that now, I've forgotten because I didn't put in the retention practice. But at the same time, I also remember feeling frustrated that I was nowhere near being mid fluent in chinese. In the last couple of months, I've figured out with the help of other folks trying to learn a new language: there's a point when you genuinly past the most basic 1.0 entry of barrier, and after that you start to feel mad because now you are constantly being reminded of what you don't know. If anything, it was the survivor bias plane image in my brain but in negative feelings. Now that I know this is in play, I feel a bit more confident in getting back to at least retention practice.人工智能...

人工智能 is the official translation for AI.
Putting aside my thoughts about the grift and the doom it gave me and still gives me everyday as someone that wants to work in the creative industry, I was mystified as to why 人工智能 is AI.

It's Golden Week in China!
On a personal level, I'm afraid to admit that I didn't know the chinese had a designated 'Golden Week' that falls months after the one in Japan until a few moments ago. On the other hand, well, it's not like anyone but like 3 people are gonna read this.
In another note, I am desperately trying to learn 汉字, the han's people written language, or simply known as chinese characters, especially for everyone not in China. (yeah, I am that history nerd)
