Hey all! I'm just popping in to participate in the snowflake challenge today :)

Since today's a day to recommend fanworks of any type (that I didn't create) I've decided that I'm going to recommend some of my favorite fannish music! I've never done a musical recommendations list before, but I've always thought about it. Here are some of my favorite fan created songs for a few different fandoms :) it's mainly gravity falls with exactly one from pjo, atla, game of thrones, inuyasha, and bnha each

deCIPHER

This is a gravity falls song from the POV of Bill Cipher! It's catchy, the lyrics are great, and the atmosphere work is just fabulous. 10/10 would recommend

Tangled Up In Mysteries Soundtrack

This is the soundtrack for a favorite fic series of mine, Tangled Up In Mysteries It's a lovely fic series with Parapines, Mabifica, and a great driving plot. The songs are an absolute delight all on their own to be honest. You can listen to the soundtrack the same way that you would a musical soundtrack completely independent of the fic and get a good idea of the plot and appreciate the musical value and the lyrics.

I come back and listen to the opening track "Insomnia (And Other Stories)" pretty often. Also if you want to get a feel for what Pacifica's arc in the fic is (which is really great... honestly an amazing coming out arc) I would listen to Insomnia then Pacifica's Lament then Family.

The soundtrack is enjoyable on its own, but combined with the text it's an absolute delight. I would recommend both of them if you have any interest... and the time to sit down and read 311k worth of fic at some point in the near future. If not, the soundtrack is enough fun on its own :)

The Rains of Castamere Fan Cover

I'm sure that if you're in the business of listening to fannish covers you've heard of Adrisaurus/Adriana Figueroa. I've listened to her stuff for years and I really love a lot of it, but I think that this is the one that's stuck with me the most. (There's a special place in my heart for all her original stuff and Game of Thrones covers, but I always come back to this one the most) I think that it's just because it's the precise shade of lilting and soft but still foreboding that I want Rains of Castamere to be. It gives me the impression that it's horrific but that it happened long in the past. The rains have been weeping over his halls for a loooonnnggg time. it sounds like it's supposed to be a tragedy long past. i also just? prefer her vocals over the original version? the original isn't bad. it has a lot of the same feel, i just don't love the guy's delivery or voice much. personal preference i suppose

Soldatino

Here comes Percy Jackson because Percy Jackson got me into fandom and i will never. ever. ever escape it. ever. If you want to be sad about Nico di Angelo, this is the song for you!

And maybe someday, the bitter will fade from your bones
Fade from your bones...

Gravity Falls Theme

Here's the gravity falls theme presented with lyrics the singer wrote herself! I honestly sing these lyrics whenever I belt along to the theme song (and believe me, that is always).

Daughter of the Moon

Another adrisaurus song for the list! This is my favorite of her original works, a song about yue from atla. it's gorgeous, really. It tells the story of yue becoming the moon to a beautiful, haunting melody and her voice is fantastic as always. just a great original work.

Every Heart & Fukai Mori

hey so you might not have known you needed this mashup, but you did. we all did. every single inuyasha fan is better because this exists.

Hero

I think that ending with my most current fandom and my most recent discovery is probably a good way to finish up this list. This is just.. such a good tribute to Deku. Musically it's solid and the vocals are fantastic, but I think that the most prominent strength is its lyrics. Like... just listen to a few of these

"I'm screaming borrowed words, but soon I will be heard"

"Weaponize what made me bleed, pick the flowers off my weeds"

"Aching palms, bloody fists. Broken myself for this. I've suffered long enough to know the meaning of what it is to reach into the sky"

Like damn. I just.. love both of those? Emulating All Might but still figuring out his own place in hero society and who he wants to be? Reclaiming the name Deku and making it his own? Clawing his way to a spot in a hero world that never would had him if he weren't so determined and good? This is just really good. It just gets him so well. What a good song to end on.
