I'm in an adolescent literature class this semester, and it's been so interesting so far. We've done readings on what adolescence is as a social construct and development stage, what it is in literature, and its origins. It's been very interesting so far and I'm excited to see how it will affect my headspace for writing this semester. I'm expecting more meta about bnha, young justice, and maybe some of the other series's about young people that I've read and maybe even some meta about young people in series that aren't about them (like asoiaf, which admittedly shaped my OWN adolescence).

I don't know, I think this is going to get me thinking about some interesting stuff.

comments

so I heard Copacabana at Walmart today and that's going to be stuck in my head until the day that I die now.

Also, I love Copacabana with all my dramatic heart but I almost wish that there wasn't a verse that detailed who shot who and what happened to Lola. How GREAT would it have been if it went from

There was blood and a single gunshot
But who shot who? ---

to "don't fall in love baaaaa
down at the coppppaaaa

don't fall in love"

like knowing that it was in fact The Love Interest TM that died and Lola is sad and lonely works fine (and the "in that dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair" is a pretty great line) but. leaving it ambiguous would have been pretty cool too. just a foreboding "don't fall in love" at the end.

who died? tony? rico? lola? we don't know! but everyone is miserable and someone's in jail probably

dont' fall in love (baaaaa) down at the coppppaaaaa

comments
